I may have to check out PM if it's faster, tho. I will buy a 1tb SSD as soon as a deal pops up. I am looking at the Macbook Air to handle these event to event assignments so that I am not hauling as much weight on my back as I haul camera equipment. I am looking for something that can help me open more folders at once for sorting and labeling. My MBP 17" does perfectly fine from event to event. From selection to adding caption info, nothing beats it. Many features if Pmechanic are streamlined for people on the go in situations such as sports and journalism. You can get a 240GB for quite cheap these days if you don't need the HD space for storing images.īridge is too slow and causes constituent rainbow wheels. I am not as young as I used to be and hauling that 17" MBP isn't always a short trip. The reply I received leads me to believe that I probably would benefit from an SSD. I decided to email the tech and ask him if CPU or GPU mattered more for loading of the images. Both still take quite a bit of time to load images. My MBP 2011 17" quad 2.5ghz 5400rpm hd does a bit better. My Mac Pro 1,1 3ghz Radeon 5570 7200rpm drive struggles. This is all well and good until I attempt to open several folders with thousands of images in each folder. When I open a folder of images in my favorite image browser, Photo Mechanic, it will display the thumbnails of the images I need to work on. ![]()
